| We’re getting ready to have a “Stewardship” conversation at RMCC. That means using God’s resources to support and achieve God’s purposes. It’s a personal commitment involving time, talents, and finances to support the church. I’ve always been good at tithing. That is something quantifiable. I also have participated in many ministries during my 23 years at Resurrection. Sometimes, it feels like a lot for someone who has a crazy busy work life and a new grandbaby, and sometimes, most of the time, it feels like it is not enough. What more can I do? I continue to look for opportunities. As our Annual Drag Bingo fundraiser approaches, I volunteered to be a table runner. Something kept nagging me about going a step further and joining the entertainment part of this event. Surely, they could use one more “Queen”. I tell everyone, “I can’t sing, but God gave me a ton of stage presence.” So here I am – a few days from my stage debut. I have picked my stage name, wig, tiara, makeup, rhinestones, and songs. I’ve been practicing the lyrics on my morning walks and watching YouTube videos at night so I can learn the “moves.” I’ve never been overly graceful, and my knee replacement will determine a lot here, lol. I’m terrified and excited at the same time. I’ve gone out on a limb, y’all. I’m being vulnerable for Jesus. Why? Because I love Jesus, and I love Resurrection and its people and the prospects of who we will be in the coming months and years. I’m confident we are morphing into exactly who God wants us to be. I’m convinced that the BEST is yet to come. What a joyful thought! If everyone went outside their comfort zone when it comes to stewardship, we could do so much more. We can do even more outreach, serving as a new church home for the unchurched and those looking for faith, spirituality, inclusivity, and belonging in a safe environment. Be thinking about it.
