The Journey into winter has arrived, and we find comfort in our homes. Many of us at Resurrection are feeling a renewed sense of gratitude—a warmth and faith that goes far beyond the temperature indoors. Fresh off the inspiration and energy from our Collective Liberation retreat, it’s clear: our community is alive with possibility, hope, and a calling to make a difference. Look for more to come from the Board and other ministries about our next steps in Collective Liberation.
It’s easy to be weighed down by the challenges and divisions in the world around us. Yet, as a faith community, we’re invited to do what Jesus did: to choose love, gratitude, and hope. Jesus exemplified a life centered on thankfulness in prayer, celebrating those around him, and trusting in God’s abundant love to transform even the hardest moments. This is the spirit, the perspective we want to carry forward. Our perspective shapes our reality. How we approach life, treat others, and respond to God’s call is a matter of choice.
This February, Resurrection invites everyone to choose an “Attitude of Gratitude”—a posture that recognizes God’s generous love and unlocks joy in giving. When gratitude fills our hearts, generosity flows naturally, transforming both the giver and the community.
We have started our February initiative, “Extravagant Generosity—The Heart of Giving!” so that together we can understand what God teaches about giving. The coming weeks will be filled with inspiration, personal growth, special guest preachers, and opportunities for heartfelt connection. Here’s how you can participate in this meaningful journey:
· Download the Daily Devotional: Beginning January 26th, we’ll journey together through “Practicing Extravagant Generosity: Daily Readings on the Grace of Giving.” The devotional is available for download HERE, and there is a link on the front page of the Website. Please download it to your device and join us as we reflect together each day. If you are a few days behind, do not worry – the readings are short and easy to catch up on.
· Share Your Heart with Heart Cards: Pick up a Heart Card HERE online, grab one at church this Sunday, or find it on the front page of the RMCC website. This week, we get to answer the question “What do you love most about Resurrection?” Your heartfelt messages—whether about fellowship, worship, study, or the spirit of our congregation—will be displayed for all to see. Bring your completed Heart Card in person to church THIS SUNDAY, or submit it online by SUNDAY, and look out for a new Heart Card prompt each week.
· Join a Fellowship Group: Deepen your connections by signing up for a weekly Fellowship Group where you’ll discuss the devotional and scriptures more deeply.
Coordinated by Gina Wilson and Georgette Monaghan, these groups will meet both in person and online. Watch for sign-up details in the Church Center app. I will be leading a group on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 at the church starting February 4th. There will be other opportunities and groups, so check on the App. My group and some others will be starting a little late, so not to worry, we can all catch up together!
Every Sunday in February promises something special. What better time than Valentine’s Month to let love and gratitude flourish? Let’s cultivate an “Attitude of Gratitude” and generosity as we read, reflect, and respond to Scripture together. Share your “love notes to Resurrection” through Heart Cards, and let’s fill this month with hope, connection, and openness to the Spirit.
What do YOU love most about our church?
In Gratitude for each one of you,

Jackie Marshall
