Our Deacons are committed to supporting the spiritual and pastoral care needs of the entire congregation through connection, prayer, and presence. Deacons help people feel cared for in times of celebration and in times of grief. A Deacon is assigned to every congregant so that each person has someone to connect with whenever needed. Even if a congregant has no immediate spiritual care needs, our Deacons help individuals connect to smaller ministry groups or find out what is happening around the church. While some people want to meet directly with clergy and other ministers, we want to ensure that no one feels alone. Resurrection is located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Our Deacons are assigned to specific zones based on geographic locations throughout the greater Houston area. Congregants are assigned to a zone based on the congregant’s address on record. Some individuals will have two Deacons. To ensure that each congregant knows their assigned Deacons, the primary Deacon will be the Deacon assigned to the congregant’s zone. Additionally, Deacons are available as a resource for small ministry groups. While the Deacon will have no oversite or responsibility for the ministry group assigned, the Deacon is available as a resource for information, conflict resolution, and other spiritual care needs.
