One of my favorite songs is EVERY SEASON by Nichole Nordeman. I quite often reflect upon these lyrics whenever I am facing a new season of life, as well as at a new year. Not only are we beginning a new calendar year but we are also entering a new season, a new chapter, in the life of RMCC. While each verse of this song describes the purpose and need for each of our four seasons, we also have purposes for each season in life with which we enter, both for our individual lives and together in our life of being a church together. I am always drawn to these lyrics from the very last verse. So it is with You And how You make me new With every season’s change And so it will be As You are re-creating me Summer, autumn, winter, spring As we enter a new year and a new season, may we all be open to the recreating that God has for each of us individually and together. People are the church. Buildings are simply a location where we gather and minister for a season. We are called to minister to each other and to many others who have yet to experience an inclusive community of love and grace. May this be a year and a new season where we expand our calling to support and minister to each other and to all the others who cross our paths. We are reminded to be kind and forgiving to each other as we live, work, and minister together. May our new season together be filled with kindness, forgiveness, love, grace, and meaningful ministry to each other and to those to whom we are called. Wherever we have gathered in the past, are gathering in the present, and wherever we will gather in the future, we are uniquely gifted with what we need for the calling to which we are called. Amen! |
