During This Time of Transition

“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24

Our beloved Resurrection community is going through changes! After ten years, our Senior Pastor, Rev. Elder Troy Treash, will be moving on to a new season in his life – retirement. We celebrate his work and wish him every blessing in this new phase of his life.
During this time of transition, we are dealing with a range of feelings and a myriad of practical tasks and details that come with the departure of a senior pastor. For the past few weeks, your Board of Directors has been busy, working to insure that RMCC continues to thrive and that a way is made for a new Senior Pastor to join us. We are excited and confident that the coming months will be productive and rich for all of us. Some of the things we have been working on are:

Meeting with RMCC’s Executive Team to ask how we can better support them. We have been learning more about the day-to-day operations of the church and the unique abilities and skills of our wonderful staff.

Working with the Pastoral Search Committee to support them as they seek to find the best candidate for the Senior Pastor position. (Look for updates from the PSC during the next few weeks.)

Meeting with representatives of the United Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), who have been providing support with exploring the possibility of a transitional pastor for the time between Rev. Troy’s departure and the arrival of a new Senior Pastor.

Planning an event to celebrate Rev. Troy’s work, thank him for his service to our congregation, and give him a well-deserved send-off to his new home. (Watch for information on Rev. Troy’s farewell event!)

We are all walking through this season of change together – the Board, the staff, and the entire congregation. Please feel free to approach any of the Board members with questions and concerns. Thank you for being a part of the vibrant, loving, and always-changing community we call Resurrection MCC!
