Advent

Finding Light and Hope as Advent Begins
Dear Church Family,

As Advent approaches, we find ourselves stepping into a season of waiting, hope, and expectation. It’s a time to reflect on the journey toward the celebration of Christ’s birth—a reminder of God’s love breaking into the world.

While this season is often filled with joy and togetherness, we also recognize that it can be a challenging time for many. Not everyone has the privilege of being with family, whether due to distance, loss, estrangement, or circumstances beyond their control. For those who feel the ache of loneliness, this time of year can feel heavy.

Yet, Advent is a season of promise—a promise that Emmanuel, “God with us,” meets us right where we are. Whether your home is bustling with laughter or quiet with solitude, God’s love surrounds you. In our inclusive and loving congregation, you are not just part of a church; you are part of a family that embraces and celebrates you for who you are.

A Call to Action: Bring the Light

This Advent, let’s actively embody the spirit of hope and connection. Here are a few ways you can engage and spread light:

1. Be a Blessing: Reach out to someone who might be spending this season alone. A phone call, a handwritten card, or an invitation to coffee can mean more than you know.
2. Advent Giving Tree: Participate in our Advent Giving Tree program by selecting a tag and providing a gift for someone in need.
3. Share Your Presence: Join us at our Advent fellowship events. Whether it’s volunteering, singing, or simply showing up with a warm smile, your presence can make a difference.
4. Light a Candle of Hope: Each week, set aside time to light a candle at home. Reflect on the themes of Advent—hope, peace, joy, and love. Let this practice remind you of God’s presence and your role in spreading light.
5. Be Bold in Prayer: Commit to praying for our community, especially those who might be struggling this season. Let us lift one another up in faith and love.

As we journey through Advent together, let’s remember that this season is about more than tradition or festivities. It’s about preparing our hearts for the transformative power of God’s love. Whether you find yourself surrounded by others or spending quiet moments alone, know this: You are loved. You are seen. You are a vital part of this church family.

Let’s make this Advent a season where everyone feels the warmth of Christ’s light through us.
