Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church Welcomes Rev. Candace Shultis “Pastor Candace” as Gap Pastor During Pastoral Search for New Senior Pastor
During the time we are in a search for a new Senior Pastor, Rev. Candace Shultis of the MCC Denomination has paused retirement for Resurrection MCC. She has agreed to a six-month contract with the ability to extend it three additional months.
Pastor Candace begins her employ as the RMCC Gap Pastor on Sunday, September 10th, 2023.
For those who do not know Pastor Candace, she comes to us with an extensive MCC Denomination background and pastored 2 MCC churches, Pastor of MCC DC from 1983 – 2007 and Senior Pastor of King of Peace MCC in St. Petersburg, FL from 2008 – 2021.
Denominational Responsibilities Included:
- Served as an Elder
- Served as a member of the initial Governing Board Certified as a “Creating a Life that Matters” Trainer Assisted with planting three new MCC’s
- Served as Clergy Advisor for thirteen Clergy Candidates
- Served on the Clergy Credentials and Concerns Committee (two years as Chairperson)
- Served on various District Review Committees
- Served as Chairperson of the Mid-Atlantic District Standard Operating Procedures Committee
- Served as Assistant District Coordinator and member of the District Committee (Mid-Atlantic District)
- Served as a Member, Clerk and Moderator of the Board of Directors, MCC Washington, DC (beginning in 1981)
