Where Do We Grow From Here?

Where Do We Grow From Here

Most of us decide whether to keep reading something within the first few sentences — so here’s the heart of it:

This church is not finished.

I’ve been part of this church for over twenty years. Many of you have walked alongside me for a long time, and you know this place has shaped my faith, my calling, and my life in profound ways. This church has never been just a building or a schedule of services. It has always been a living, breathing community — built by people who loved deeply and served faithfully.

We are living in a season of transition. We don’t currently have a settled pastor. We are navigating significant financial challenges. Some ministries feel quieter than they once did. And still — God is present, calling, and inviting us forward together.

A few weeks ago, a group of us gathered to reflect on what ministry might look like in the coming year — not in terms of big programs or quick fixes, but through a different lens:

What is life-giving? What invites participation? What is rooted and sustainable?

Those who were present took time to reflect and share their insights. Now, we want to open that same opportunity to the wider church.

VISION REFLECTION QUESTIONNAIRE

This reflection isn’t about having the “right” answers or proposing polished plans. It’s about listening — to our own stories, to the needs we see around us, and to the quiet nudges of possibility that may already be there.

A growth mindset invites us to believe that:

· Small steps matter

· Faithful care is better than hurried change

· Vision is something we discern together, not something handed down

Whether you’ve been here for decades or joined more recently, your perspective matters. Ministry doesn’t belong to a few — it belongs to all of us.

We invite you to take a few minutes to complete the Vision Reflection linked below. You may submit it anonymously if you wish. These reflections will be prayerfully reviewed by leadership and the Board as we consider how best to focus our shared ministry in the year ahead.

The late Rev. Vickey Gibbs believed that faithful, sustaining ministry plants seeds that grow long after the work is done. As you reflect, we invite you to notice where those seeds may still be taking root among us.

Even now — especially now — God is not done with this church. And neither are we.
