How to Live in Ministry at RMCC

At Your Service
How to LIve in Ministry at RMCC
Greetings to all the saints of Resurrection MCC! For those who may feeling like an “ain’t”, greetings to you as well! This is the day that our God has made! Are you rejoicing and being glad there in? I certainly hope so.

When I reflect on what our church provides to the greater world, I am grateful. This past Sunday, we were given a word of encouragement to share with one another from Rev. Dr. Cindi Love. We were told that we are “a letter from Jesus, written by the spirit of the Living God,” written on each other’s heart. After the beautiful music that was shared by our Resurrection Choir and that statement, I felt as if I had been to church! Reflecting on that statement and the band of angels that I’m surrounded by, I am moved beyond words! If you haven’t had the chance to enjoy that service, please do so HERE.

Because Resurrection MCC and MCC global are part of me, I have been challenged and matured with my personal theology, grown spiritually as a queer man of color, developed friendships that turned into familial relationships, and learned the absolute meaning of inclusion. Our church has been my church home and place of spiritual refuge. During these years, I have had the opportunity to serve our church in a variety of ways: Reader, Communion Server, Greeter, Young Adult Lead (formally known as Y.A.A.S. – Young Adults Actively Serving) and a certified CLM Trainer. Additionally, I have served at our denomination globally as a Lay Delegate, member of the Young Adult Counsel, and most recently, as a member of the Commission of Pathways of Healing and Reconciliation. Currently, I am one of the Deacons and Director of our Gospel Ensemble.

Now, I’m sure many have just read that list and wondered, “Why has he served so much?” I’m glad you asked! Throughout the scriptures, God encourages to be of service: To learn to speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9), to do justice and show mercy (Micah 6:8), to learn the gospel and go tell it to the world (Mark 16:15), and to do it without shame (Romans 1:16).

All of us have been called to do something. Have you heard the call yet? Have you felt the nudge to change a portion of the world that surrounds you? If you haven’t, I invite you to attend this Sunday’s service as our Associate Pastor, Rev. Denise Junious, gives us a word on “TNG:Something New.”

Our church has a vast amount of things to offer for you to connect, be revived, share your talent, and becoming spiritually mature. I invite you to get involved and help keep our church alive and thriving!

Yours In Christ,
