| 1 Samuel 3:8-10 New International Version 8 A third time the Lord called, âSamuel!â And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, âHere I am; you called me.â Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, âGo and lie down, and if he calls you, say, âSpeak, Lord, for your servant is listening.ââ So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, âSamuel! Samuel!âThen Samuel said, âSpeak, for your servant is listening.â Does hearing God so clearly seem possible? How do we decipher between Godâs voice and the other voices in our lives? When I was younger, I remember watching my grandmother wake up every morning at 5 am to do only one thing, pray and talk with God. I asked her one day, âHow do you know you are hearing God and not everything else?â She replied, â It’s not how the voice sounds, but what the voice is saying that tells you who is speaking.â Those words have stayed with me through the years and help me as I navigate life. When God is working in our lives, we hear, see, and feel the path that has been set before us. Godâs voice propels us to take action and live in the fullness of our purpose; the voice of God is never hopeless, nor does it obsess over our problems. Godâs voice will remind you that you are never alone, you are loved and all things can work for your good.  If you are having a hard time hearing God try these things: 1. Create time to pray each day. 2. Be still in your heart and mind and ASK God to speak to you and with you 3. Deepen your connection with your faith based community During this time of transition, it is important that we all set aside time each day to pray and talk with God. Listen as God asks you to use your time, talent, and treasures to help grow our ministry. Thank you for being a part of this church community!!! Here is the prayer I pray every morning: God, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit. Thank You for continuing to speak to me, even when I doubt and hesitate to move forward. Give me confidence in my ability to hear You today, and propel me to act on what I hear. In Jesusâ Name, Amen. |
