Make Your Voice Count!

Make Your Voice Count
It’s that time of year – time to vote and make our voices heard at Resurrection MCC. To ensure that our process is as efficient and informative as possible, we have an Annual Congregational Forum (ACF) and an Annual Congregational Meeting (ACM).

We provide the opportunity for questions and discussion at the Forum (ACF on November 9, 2025). This allows us to give more time for congregational interaction and to streamline the Meeting (ACM on November 16, 2025). At the Meeting (ACM), we will not be entertaining questions from the floor, so it is your chance to ask questions THIS SUNDAY at the Forum (ACF) immediately after the Sunday service in the Sanctuary.

If you didn’t get an email from the board Clerk, Cathleen Sheil-Hopper, a link to the Congregational Meeting Packet was provided.

Highlights for the Forum include meeting the candidates for Board of Directors (Robert Amidon, Dan Lindquist, and Sharri McGlauthing) and Lay Delegate (Lilly Chu, KK Goodsell, and Claire Sebesta), reviewing our Treasurer’s report, which details our current financial situation, and reviewing the 2026 Proposed Budget. Board members and committee chairs will be present to hear and answer your questions.

The Bylaws Committee has been working on the proposed Bylaw changes for the last two years, and here are some highlights of the key updates you will see in the Bylaw comparison in your ACM packet:

1. Improved Organization and Readability
2. Clarified Roles and Responsibilities, including the duties of the Board Officers and filling Board vacancies
3. Updated Congregational Meeting Procedures, including voting rights, quorum requirements, and meeting notifications.
4. Financial Management Updates clarifying financial oversight responsibilities of the Treasurer and Board.
5. New Section: Policy and Procedure Manual formally establishing the Policy and Procedure Manual as a companion document to the bylaws.
6. Modernized Language updating terminology throughout to reflect current governance and technology practices (2025 standards).

As you read your packets, please write down your questions. There will be time limits during the question-and-answer section after each presentation in order to keep the Forum moving. We will be streaming the Forum. You will be able to post questions in the chat room. Any unanswered questions will be reviewed by the appropriate board member or committee chair. If you have questions after the Forum, you can email Billy Ray Priest, Board Administrator, at ray@resurrectionmcc.org. Questions will be accepted through Wednesday, November 12.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Forum and the Meeting,
Jackie Marshall
