STOP SB12 – It Is Time to Act

STOP SB12 - It Is Time to Act
STOP SB12 – It Is Time to Act

What a great Sunday! If you missed last week’s Soul Journey: Remembering as we especially remembered Rev. Vickey Gibbs, you can experience it HERE.

Join us for the rest of the Soul Journey series following the account of Moses:

August 27, Practicing, Rev. Elder Troy Treash
September 3, Trusting, Rev. Denise Junious
September 10, Asking, Rev. Elder Candace Shultis

We also celebrated receiving a $5,000 unexpected gift from Texas United Charities, collected at their Casino Night at Neon Boots. And, we announced that this coming Sunday from 3pm-8pm is Neon Boots’ 10th Anniversary Celebration with the Gospel Ensemble performing–and RMCC is a beneficiary again! It is wonderful to be supported by our community! You are invited!

On the next day, Monday, August 28 at 2pm at the Federal Courthouse on 515 Rusk, the very broad anti-drag SB-12 ban which is slated to go into effect in September is being challenged by the ACLU and Abilene Pride. We can stop STOP SB12 and have the opportunity to exhibit our Love in Action with a prayerful presence inside, supporting the efforts to stop or stay the ban’s implementation. You don’t even have to drive to Austin this time!

I find it fitting that my last official duties as your Senior Pastor include celebrating Rev. Vickey, celebrating community support, preaching Practicing, showing up at a courthouse for justice, and teaching Bible Study the very night before my last day, August 31. It has been my joy to serve alongside you at Resurrection, and I will gladly recommend this opportunity to those interested in serving here. I am actually very excited to see what is next for you, and what is next for me.

The soul journey continues!
