| Happy Thanksgiving! When I was growing up, we (Dad, Mom, and me) drove up the road to enjoy a feast with my Aunt Myra, Uncle Ren, cousin Donna and a few assorted friends and neighbors in Saugerties, NY. Aunt Myra always prepared a huge feast. When we finished the first round of food she always, ALWAYS said to my Dad, “Now, Howard, don’t be afraid of the food,” to which Dad always, ALWAYS responded, “I’m not afraid of the food, Myra.” After the feast, we took a walk down the street and then came back to sit in the rocking chairs on the wrap-around porch before dessert was served. Some memories of Thanksgiving are nicer than others. I know that I was blessed to be in a family that cared for one another. But I also know that not everyone has fond memories or good present circumstances at this time of year. So, I thank God for my blessings and lift lots of prayers that others might find blessings, too. So, let us also pray for peace in our world. May you be filled with more than food, but also filled with thankfulness. May you be with people you love and who love you.
