Thoughts on a Rainy Day
Thoughts on a Rainy Day

It’s raining—and although it’s a bit warmer than the last few days, it’s still gloomy. So, I’ve been musing. And remembering some moments from the past.

When my mother died, the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Clyde Herbert Snell, preached her funeral. The one thing I remember is that on the cloudiest of days, the sun is always shining behind the clouds. We just need to remember that it is there and will reappear one day. That knowledge has kept me going on more than one occasion.

Another story: Two boys were put into a room filled with horse manure. One boy sat in the middle of the room and cried and cried and cried. He could not be consoled. The other boy took one look and began to gleefully scoop through the pile, throwing the manure everywhere. When he was asked what he was doing, he replied, “There must be a pony in here somewhere!”

So, what is your outlook on this seemingly dreary day? Can you see the sun hiding behind the clouds? Can you see the rainbow trying to peek out? Are you looking for the pony?
